Did you ever dream of flying every day? Me too!

    I used to spend winters hang-gliding in Florida where it was warm. I was tired of spending time in front of the computer dreaming of flying. One year I decided to do something different. I headed to a famous place called Valle De Bravo, Mexico. I heard that there was great weather there and it was safe and cheap - “my kind of place!.” I hired a tour company that charged lots of money to guide me. For my money, I got a ride to the launch area , a ride back to my room and not much more.






    I thought,” Hey! I want to meet and hang out with the locals. I want to eat traditional foods. So I stayed longer, left the tour company, and went on my own.

   Speaking just a  little Spanish, it was hard at first, but soon I was staying at a local pilot’s house, eating local foods, and hanging with the locals. Wow! Now I was having fun! That was several years ago. I now consider those people “family.” I have become friends with the local operators, pilots, and taxi drivers. I know where to find the “real” Mexican food!


Most of the time I would land at Jovan’s Restaurant, where I befriended the owners. They treated me like one of their own. I flew XC almost every day. I ended up staying there for three months.

    Several friends came to visit me and asked me to  share my story with others. They suggested that I should share my knowledge and connections so other people could experience flying in the “real” Mexico as well. I agreed - but only if we do it the way I do. Cheap and Fun!
